Why are Mondays boring !

Dont read on, if you dont agree with the Title.

You will really agree if you work in a MNC, that gives you two whole days in your hands to handle. And boy, how do we fill it.

To turn your hand at a number of tasks in a desultory and disengaged manner; to perform a task while haunted by the knowledge that this task is symptomatic of the paltry state of your existence - use with particular reference to office work.Usage: ‘What are you doing?' ‘Oh, I'm just Mondaying around.'

Unfortunately, this feeling is not something you can control. It will just creep up on you at about 6 pm every Sunday. Many of us will also experience Sunday night insomnia brought on by late nights, K TV movie, or a Sunday matinee. Good weekends are all very well, but come Sunday, you're a too tired, exhausted, worried about work the next day and therefore unable to sleep. The only solution is to set your alarm for Tuesday. Trouble is, this will soon get you the sack. So make do with gritting your teeth, drinking lots of strong coffee and eating heaps of chocolate. It's not as bad as it seemed the night before, and next weekend is twelve hours closer already.

News and Commentary

Why were you not surprised, when Mr. YV Reddy announced that inflation is going to make you sad, and Banks will kiss you with a little extra interest (if only you are paying them). I know most of the people did not care about it. [I had to care and digest through all news papers for this news, because im a fresh and nervous Loan Payer Heh!]. But i know most of them were thrown back (very necessarily) when they heard Dhanush is marrying Aishwarya (Rajini's doughter). Give it a thought.

The News Dailies understand our very pulse, and they know how to catch our attention. I only wonder if people know, right now, Yasser Arafat (a great leader in my eyes) is totally sick and about to end life. But I know, almost everyone in Tamil Nadu knows Veerappans daughter was Taken out of the school she was studying. Im not classifying the importance of the news, but im wondering, How the wholesome of people react to news.

And thinking reverse, looks like the news papers and the news media (newspaper in major) control the public opinion. It looks to me as if we are being forced to read some news, thats the news papers opinion and not the news exactly.

Hope you remember the 007 movie, "Tomorrow Never Dies", where the Villain runs a News Agency. He puts the news in his paper, and then makes it a reality.

We are being driven by these kind of news agencies, and we are far from reality.
But do we have an option to know the real news ?.

Yes, if we can have the maturity, to categirzie things, and differentiate between News - Opinions - Gossips - Assumptions - Speculations.

Just read "Veerappans dead". It doesnt matter how he was dead, How people killed them, whether there was humanity in it, if he committed suicide. NO! we saw pictures of his Corpse, and he is dead. You neednt know more. If you want more, you dont want news. You want an entertaining story. Well, understandingly, thats what papers are giving currently.

News - Veerappan was killed by TN - STF.
Opinion - Veerappan must not have been killed, he was a good man says his wife.
Gossip - Veerappan is still alive, and that rumour is still spreading.
Assumptions - Veerappan could have been arrested even earlier, but were given specific orders to kill him.
Speculations / Hype - Lots of money in the forest, and people are running for it.

URL forwarding means, you can host a site anywhere, which would be a sub-domain, of a major Domain. For instance, you should be familiar with GeoCities, which is a Yahoo service, that allows you to create and host web pages of your own content. But the address would looklike, http://geocities.yahoo.com/username/page1/page2.html. Boy, thats a big name to remember and promote. So, there are services like http://www.no-ip.com, and many others that provide a Short URL for your site, and the service provider simply forwards any request to this Short URL to the URL you specify. Life made simpler (shorter in this case ?)

TechCulture Talk - Part I

"Hey ! I sent you a mail, did you check it !". Hope you heard or said this, sometime recently to your friend. But you see him everyday, or he sits next to your cubicle. Well, we can call it Irony. Is it that we are so amused by tehnology ? Im not any better. I Do the same things, worse. I own 23 eMail ids, on different domains, and i Auto forward every mail to my GMail. Sometimes, i just try Checking it, and it ends up in a loop. Tell me how many times did you say "Buzz ! Ding ! rut ? are you there ? brb".

We meet someone, anyone who is not important, and here comes the dialogue "Hey ! Whats you mail id. Ill mail you !". We obviously dont remember, and off goes the contact. "What you have no email iD ??" - this one is so insulting, as if a person without an email id is like someone living on the roadside pavement. "I check my mails 24 hours !" - a proud statement, but this guy hardly gets mails.

Utility is a question, we may not be able to answer when we try to use a technology. We use technology for sophistication, but the base idea on which it was created, is hardly lost. "Newly wed" and "to be wed" couple are the highest revenue generator for the Telecom industry !. How many of us really use technology for the real use of it.

Whats so good about a Holiday !

Back to office today, after 2 days of leave and 3 holidays. Boy, thats 5 consecutive days to enjoy. But i had a Grahapravesam of my new house in between. That made these 5 days disappear in the smoke of "Work for your Guest". But, thats a happy feeling, being a host. How you like an occasion is realized by the number of times you look back at the photographs of that day. I've already seen the photos 13 times. Im using Picassa, a very nice Photo Organiser. Get it from Google.

Are you Different, By any chance !

What are you planning to name your kid. You probably think, you have to give a Majestic name that will have some kind of "SH" sound, or a single word that ends in "A". Ananya, Avantika, Darshan, Shreya, Kaushik.. man, there's a big list. These days, people are Straining their minds, and confuse themselves, giving a name. In the process, they cannot avoid getting funny names, and speak the name aloud to find out if it sounds good. It is true my class had 3 Srirams, 6 Karthiks and 4 Chitras. The future class will have atleast 12 Adityas and 8 Aiswaryas. We want the name to be unique, and totally different.

Now thats the point. Everyones started being different. This is how the insanity begins. Somebody starts something, and the other person impressed by it, tries to do something better of the same kind, and ultimately everyone does it. Thats everybody being different, and thats equal to everyone being ordinary. Nobody will have Abithakuchalaambal, Ramanaathan, Rajam, Seetharaman, Swarnambika (personal names i like). But im sure, someday the future generation will think these names are unique and have their kids named, like what we have now.

What am i trying to say ! Read on. If you think you have to be different, or do something unique, then Do whatever you are doing right now, in the same fashion and procedure. Because, we used to eat on Banana Leaves, and some point of time, we started eating on plates ,and then paper plates. And now, eating on a Banana Leaf is an Exquisite experience. But my Grandfather who used to do this everyday, now is a different man. But he did nothing different.

Do not try to Change. Everyone of us are good as we are, and we do what we are meant to. We need not try to switch lanes, but just keep running.

We need not be Extra-ordinary. Just be Ordinary. Be "Yourname Goes Here" !.

Veerappan Dead

WARNING : This is not a news about Veerapan's death, but an analysis of how things revolve around it.

From today, take seven days (or lesser). Veerappan , as ususal , will appear on the first page of news papers. Then moved to third page, and gradually dimnish. People will see TV Programs, or Read Nakkeran Gopal's speech about Veerappan, saying how good a man he was. The village that patronized veerappan, will have an old man, talk good about veerappan. We understand, these days, Criminals are having a magnetic lasso, that cuts off the Crime they made, and impress people by their power. But iam, personally unmoved. Veerappan deserved this. Here's his Timeline. A Man who could kill people, is no man. Nobody deserves an applause for this too. Nobody congratulated Bush, for getting Saddam ! Nobody was impressed. Not me.

The worst part of the Weekend is that, it ends on a Monday. :-(

Chennai is Showering heavens, right now. The Climate outside my Cubicle Window is "Wow! why did i come to office today !". These kind of Cozy Climates invite a sleep, thats mmm... like, im getting the kind of nicest feelings, i used to have at schools. Rains on a Monday Morning, give us speculations. "The school must be on a holiday today..hurraaaaay !". Offices should also declare holidays on rains. After all, they cannot let their resources get wet. (Duh !). Anyways, work begins today. Its a four day week, with a fat weekend. Friday is Ayutha Pooja. And i already felt it in Agarwal Bhavan in Parrys.

The Mumbai Express

I wonder why kamalhaasan and controversy are tied up together. Check this link Kamals Next Fight i got this from the http://www.lazygeek.net, somehow, i like it there. By the way, the movie kamal's going to take up is "Mumbai Express", now what does that mean and any incidents contained.. whooops.

Veeranam hits chennai, and are people happy about it. Looks like the government is doing good, and its consistant performance has did quite a few good things, that people do not obviously understand. like, the next election in Tamil Nadu is Spicy for sure.

Kamalhaasan - KG ?

As Rain Hits Chennai, we hear the most possible producer Mr. Bharat Shah, teams up with Raaj Kamal pictures, to produce a Kamal Haasan movie (possibly a tri-lingual). This one is the Cop Thriller, we've been hearing for days. Hope this one's got the quality and clarity Hey Ram had.. and hope to have some encouragement that Hey Ram did not.
