All of a sudden, we have been having World records for Sarees. The 50,000 Color saree has triggered this competition.

RmKV has been instrumental in experimenting many things on Sarees. They introduced a Lengthiest saree that entered the Guiness Book of Records. Then they came out with Cinderella Paavadai (See Older post on Cinderella Paavadai ). From Time to Time, RmKV has been brining out the classical pieces with a touch of awe.. just to create records. C'mon, no one will buy that lengthiest saree.. and many cannot afford the Rs. 50,000 saree with 50,000 colors.

But after this colorful saree broke the ice, Pothys has come up with a Saree (obviously green in color) that has the entire History of India in it. I happened to see the Ad, with Barathiraja's speech on the background. Duh, another Guiness record.

What took me by surprise, is an advertisement in Vikatan. India's First 3D saree. This was done by Sri Kumaran Stores. Looks like they still dont have it for displays, but will soon be. So, another record.

Is that, by any chance, a marketing strategy... Why would anyone go to that shop on seeing a Saree that she cannot buy or wear ?

But hey, we dont want 3D pants.. for Almighty's sake.. :)

The record sarees will inspire Indian women’s to wear saree. Is a fine idea to protect our sarees & culture. 3D saree we can see 3 different things in it?

Hey there,

Why don't you see the amazing creativity that these guys have come up with in order to conceptualise and actually implement this idea. As stupid as it may sound, maybe we should learn to appreciate art for art's sake, albeit done under the guise of marketing gimmicks.

Cheers...........Jam

deepak.. i feel the same.

jacky, adada !! idhu nalla suggestionaa irukke !

chakra, imagine that in Rajini's Sivaji ?

jeevan, 3 different things ?? whoops ! by the way, as you said.. this inspires women here to wear sarees.

jam, i admire the innovation they make.. but just because one guy goes for a guiness record, everyone trying to cook something useless... that kind of marketing is not going to impress.
