Saravana Bhavan - just getting out of list

This weekend looked like Saravana Bhavan Special to me. I ended up being in the hotel, with three different sets of people (relatives and friends) during the Sat and Sundays... in Vadapalani, Ashok Nagar and Anna Nagar.

It wasnt a let down in Quality.. but Pricing was very heavy. Thats what I felt. And what hit me badly was when my dear Masala Dosai was having a very minute quantity of masala. Thats outrageous. Looks like these guys have gone way too complacent that customers will somehow pop in and eat anything they give.

More to which this Hotel does not feature any Air Conditioners. But the charges are like eating in a A/c restaurant. And the charges in the Saravana Bhavan - Pondy Bazaar are mindboggling. I'd better take the Balaji Bhavan and Geetha Cafe instead.

Im planning to avoid this Hotel from now on. I can get better or equal quality food for a lesser price. It is not the question of affordability.. it is the concern of exploitation. Simply a good-name cannot give you authority to raise your prices.

It wont matter to Saravana Bhavan, if just a One out of a lakh customers quit consumption.

Day light robbery - I've been to Saravana Bhavan at Anna Nagar, Purasawakkam and Pondy Bazaar! Outrageous price. I'm not OK with the cleanliness too. What say to starting a "Stay no to Saravana Bhavan?" logo? (Similar to I love Madras logo)

Keerthi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You took the words right out of my mouth, or , rather mind....
Echoes my sentiments on the issue and i've boycotted SB quite a while back.
It's what it is now not because of any unique quality or whatever... its because the suckers (read makkal) succumbed to the assault of hype unleashed from all sides...

Next on the list is Murugan Idly Kadai...

Oothappam'ku 37'ke muruga'va. appo en friend oruthar, kutti cup raitha'ku 40 rooba kuduthaare. adhukku enna solluve?

avanga 4 per poirukkanga. they ordered some pulav, raitha, some dosais. ellam oralavukku sapturukkanga. they were given a bill close to 1000 Rs :O

And its not just about the prices of 'Saravana Bhavan' brand name. The attitude too is really bad, especially if you are a bachelor, you are treated like shit. I still remember the bad experience I had at Atlanta Saravana Bhavan, one of the worst places to eat.

appadi edhavadhu treat pannina, 5 paisa tip vechutu ponga. appo dhaan millenium bulb'a irukkum :D

Some ppl feel proud of saying that "Naanga Saravana Bhavanla thaan saapiduvom" stupids they dont know that theyre paying 4 times the amount. One chilli parotta costs 45 rupees, what does he think are we in USA? it is almost a dollar. I have taken the same decision a couple of months ago. Say NO to HSB, you ll not die if you dont eat in HSB.
Gud post.

Said it right, Keerthivasan. At Egmore, Saravana Bhavan there is an air conditioned restaurant. Onion Rava costs Rs 67/-. Tamilnadu Meals - Rs 120/- Business Lunch Rs 80/- In the non a c restaurant the same Onion Rava costs Rs 47/-. Limited Meals at Rs 32/- and Special Meals at Rs 42/-Thought quality is good, they are charging exorbitantly. There are equally good restaurants at affordable price, one is Hotel Meenatchi Bhavan or (Suvai Agam) at Santhome High Road and also in G N Chetty Road.
