DMaran - a Minister with some energy

Of late, Dayanidhimaran is available on all news editions and Newspapers too. It happens to many politicians this way, only if they are in some controversy. But this Gentleman is on the news, because he is doing something, something better than what other ministers are doing. Of course, Manishankar Iyer would be doing the same efforts, yet, Dayanidhimaran has clearly out-beaten all other ministers in terms of performance and reach. It may be true that Natwar Singh is sitting on delicate foreign issues, but still in terms of results (though easily reachable) Dayanidhi Maran has proven better.

Please understand, that im not inclined to any political party. But I admire that this man is doing some work, that is of critical importance. I remember the communication minister in Mr. Narasimha Rao's cabinet did something valuable (besides corruption).

Dayanidhi Maran has been instrumental in introducing a lot of schemes to BSNL and other communication sectors. His ".IN" seems to be a success. His broadband schemes, and continuing efforts to improve the services of broadband, has certainly impressed the younger generation.

It is nice to see an educated person (Anbumani Ramadoss is MBBS, you know ?) in the cabinet. Look out his website maintained by nic - click here.

I can still remember, Dayanidhimaran was nobody, weeks before the general elections. Where is he now ? whoopa !!! We certainly need people like these, working. I would like to see all the MPs, swiping in their attendance cards, and going into the Parliament - discuss strategies like what Project Managers do, and come out with results. Am I only dreaming ?

I also feel that he is doing something.....but more than anything else he is more media savvy than others. Sun TV group is also projecting him a lot.

there have been few setbacks as well. In the case of Intel, Dayanidhi Maran announced that Intel will set up a facility in Chennai whereas the company never made an announcement. these kind of incidents do not show him in good light. he should have handled the issue better. do read the article below -

If I'm correct the cost of bandwidth charges were to come down this year, can't agree that he was the sole force behind BSNL launching broadband schemes though he might have a say in pricing. His 10K PC is a gimmick, the configuration is pathetic and it only has stripped-down version of Windows. Not sure how many apps it may support.
Now there's war between GSM and CDMA operators for bandwidth allocation for 3G services...wonder how many pottis will go to Maran! Whoever wins, we will see big pictures of Maran with praises like "Maran brings 3G services to India". Does it come from Mars? Huh! It's just an evolution that's all.

Yes Dayanidhimaran is doing his job correctly, he has announced some good thing to our country, the Rs.10,000 Personal Computer is a good Idea It will be useful to middle-class peoples. He plans to make India the world's hub for outsourcing skilled manpower in the IT sector. India is currently using the technology of GSM (2.5 G) and CDMA for mobile telephony. The 3G standard has been evolved, but has not proved cost-effective. He plans to leapfrog this generation and develop 4G technology.

i do agree he does have his own set of dissapointments...but people who jump to the occasion to criticise dont keep in mind the good they have obtained...all they want to do is criticise atleast one person per day..else they cant rest in peace at night...i do agree some of his ventures were over ambitious...but...he is sincerely making an effort when all the other citizens are siting in the comfort of the chairs and hatching eggs !!!

Hope he would continue doing things and not get pulled into the dravidian politics.

kaps, I agree that anything DMaran does is hyped, double hyped and hypo-hyped. But still, i just wanted to appreciate certain honest efforts of his, which iam aware of. But then, he has his own drawbakc, as you have mentioned. That Broadband story was whoops !

jacky, right. but looks like the 10,000 model is a slow hit. thats right - potti thaan ;) but then, imagine a very old guy sitting in the Communication ministry office, and trying to understand everything he signs.

jeevan, 3G may not be cost effective initially, but may prove good in the future. but it has to come. it better.

vK, honest effort - thats right. It could be in search of fame or mere votes. But at the end of the day, the result is what matters. DMaran, has scored well.

deepak, thats a very important point. wish these guys stay longer in politics.
