The DaVinci Key

The world is waiting for Dan Brown's next-up. "The Solomon Key" is almost a sequel of The DaVinci Code (shortly called TDVC). Brown says that the cover Illustration of TDVC is the key for his next book - The Solomon Key. The book again features "Robert Langdon" a professor from the Harvard University. The Langdon charater is the trump card for Dan Brown, as he does this act of overriding emotions on the user, using the thoughts of Langdon.

What I mean is, superimposing the thoughts of Robert Langdon in a way that it becomes our thought, and the story moves fast. Thats been Dan Browns key, all the way to success. The Solomon Key is expected to release February 2006. This book is on the Freemasons, that means a lot of American leaders are in trouble. Well, Conspiracy is my favourite topic. I wish Dan Brown was in Chennai and wrote stories about DMK and ADMK. I also wish Dan Brown wrote about Netaji and Nehru.

[ctsy - Amazon ]

There's already a book on the speculations of the "Solomon Key". It is called the Davinci in America, by Greg Taylor. Will give it a read and let you know whats it all about.

The Next Best thing

Everyone has a dream. Someday, they will find it close to reality. And when it is practically achievable, It is no more a dream. So, in the empty space, where the dream was, comes another Dream. The Next Best Thing...

I once had a dream of buying a bike [Bajaj Pulsar] . Unfortunately for me, when i saw my dream coming closer to reality, i had this Dream Accident (Yuk !). And then, i was forced to have more practical dreams (is this an Oxymoron - Practical Dreams !!). And today i take delivery of a new Black Honda Activa - with a Honda Key-chain ( im more amused at smaller things, than bigger ones). Today my dream vaccum is filled with Honda Accord.

Life is always about this. The Next Best thing that you can achieve and acquire. If you ask yourself, why you earn money... you have this answer in mind. "I want to get the next best thing to....", well somethings.

May be your dream is a better computer, high speed DSL, high quality sound.
Or you own a old bike, you want a new one. Or you aspire for a Car.
You have a house, you want a more spacious one, with a Home theatre provision.
You are now a Team Lead, and you want to become the Project Manager.

In reality, you just give it to time, to do things for you. You know, the more practically achievable your dream is, then Time will take care. If the wait is Honest, then the Next Best thing will always show up to you.

Only if your dream is not just the next best thing, but it is about the "Close to Impossible" event, like a Software Engineer of a company dreaming of a Vice president - Delivery in a Software Organaization, then it needs tremendous prayers to Hardwork, and planning. Of course there are a lot of things that will account here, like "Elements of Uncertainity". But the equation works for 90% of the people.

(Consistant Hardwork * Persistant efforts) - Elements of Uncertainity = Unbelievable Success.

May look like a Crazy immature "yet another useless euqation". But this is what i believe in.

So, i dont want to have Unbelievable success.

I just believe and dream on the Next Best Thing.

Swingin in Joy

To me, I have my own definitions of richness. Inspite of the definitions being foolish, i persist in Holding them. If you are showing me a Rich Man's house, I wont accept the owner "Really Rich" if the house did not have a Swing. Oonjal - Unjal, thats what they call it in Tamil.

As always, the best ways I can remain Idle are these. Watching an Elephant, Sitting in a Railway Station for hours, Two legs waggling on a stream of water (I did this once in Srirangam.. it was heaven), and Swingin on a Oonjal.

[ctsy - Google Images ]

It is sheer pleasure, sitting on a Oonjal, and having a conversation. My Uncles house has one big Swing in a room, and thats my fave-room. Me, my Paatti and my uncle , had many conversations there. It is like the Swing is the fourth person listening.

Im planning to have one at my home (to make myself rich, you know !!).

See, Im still a kid at mind. Thats why i write Mainframe Programs ;)

Anniyan Music Out ! - Clean Bold

[ctsy - nowRunning ]

Seems Harris Jeyaraj did not accept any other movies, just for concentrating on Anniyan. I was hearing carefully, to find out - which song did he really concentrate on !!

Im not worth giving comments on the music, as I've not got the original CD yet. Im only the common MP3 grabber. Still, i guess i can express comments.

Anniyan music is just another music, with NOTHING special in it. Not even better than Saamy. "Kadhal Yaanai" is a sure hit. But the other songs are just a "Same kind of thing" songs.

"Iyengar Veettu" is one song im repeatedly playing.. as it has the carnatic classic ("Jagadhananda Kaarakaa.." - a thyagaraja krithi).

Hope the concenteration of Harris was on the Re-recording.

Hey, did you know. With GMail memory count increasing everyday, it would reach 3GB on January 1st 2006.

Discover Beauty

K700i was the search for. My friend is
desperate in finding out a new cell to suit his flair. Thats when i got to
see the new Nokia phone.

Nokia 8800 is the phone, and it is got some good features that come with
all Nokia phones, and most of all, its that kind of Pull Down dial pad. I've
always liked and impressed by the Phone that Neo Anderson is couriered in
the movie Matrix. That model is now outdated, but remains good.

Yet, I have not taken off my eyes from my dream phone 9500 Communicator.

A time will come, Wont it ?

Yahoo - Advantage

With Yahoo very close to giving 1GB email for everyone, the chances of GMail conquering the world is ruled out (thats my opinion / prediction). Why is simple.

Many of the eMail users are still stuck with Yahoo and even Hotmail. Most people hesitate to migrate to someother email service, on the bargain of more technology. GMail, despite offering Unbelievable great services, has one set-back. LATE. It has been very late, for GMail to have been introduced. Of course, the advent of GMail has made Yahoo rethink of its services. And quite amazingly, Yahoo has brought in all the concepts (or atleast most of them) of GMail into itself.

Talking of memory, Yahoo played safe, and worked out its capabilities and now decided to take on Head to head with Google.

Yahoo's Blog service is already a Hit in its Beta stage. Also looks like Flickr is bought by Yahoo. I smell Google flavour here...do you ?

So, here we have two tight competitors, Yahoo and Google. Both fighting for supremacy, and thus offering us more and more services. It is the public thats enjoying.

Rarely we see, public getting benefitted. Well, thats not good.. isnt it.

The theory of "Why Did I not ..."

Earlier this day, I was on Kiruba's page. And read through how Kiruba Shankar got an Air-conditioner, and how he could have got it even cheaper, for as much as Rs. 5000 difference.

In another instance, i find my friend regreting for buying 6610 in a premature stage, and now the Improved version of 6610 - 6610i with camera and other stuffs cost pretty much cheaper that what was got for 6610.

Even My computer with all High-tech stuffs would cost a lot cheaper now, than what was purchased in September 2004. The time difference is not too much. But in a short span of time, the product is much improved and cheaper.

And only thing we could do is be ignorant. Or regret.

[ctsy - Byerly.org ]

Why did I not wait and Buy ? Should have waited for some more time...
Why did I not consult and search ? I should have got that one instead of this,.
Why did I not be careful ? I could have got it a lot cheaper

Do you have answers ?

Search what you Searched for

What is the maximum thing you can search for, is the list of all the things you already searched. Google is attempting to remember all that you searched, and the list helps you on a flavoured search, where Google is personally going to reccommend you searches and results based on your Search History. My, My, My !

Thats like having a personal assistant, and asking him to record things out. This feature is enabled via your Google account, so your search list available wherever you search (I mean it is mobile).

"My Search History will record everything a searcher does while using Google. Users will note the amount of time they spend on Google, where they went, the amount of time they spend on each document found through Google, the last time they visited a web document, and where they went after visiting a web document.Users who sign up for the service will learn a lot about how they use Google. In turn, Google will learn a lot about every user as well." - stepforth

Benedict and Shailendra

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger becomes Pope Benedict XVI - the new head of the world's 1.1 billion Roman Catholics

[ctsy - BBC ]

Avyukta Hits 3000. Hurray ! Thats a big thing for me, atleast.

Ladies and gentlemen, Please Welcome Shailendra Rao, a Chemical Engineer pursuing his higher education in Canada, who has wished to contribute on Avyukta. He has one sister in the US, and a brother in a different state of US, and he in Canada. And this guy roams across all these places at regular intervals. Lucky Shailendra. Im struggling to go to even my native ( Mayiladuthurai ).

My passport would expire in two more years. And so far, i have not taken more than a four Jet Airways trip back and forth from Bombay. I Wish I'd use it atleast twice before my passport expires.

Talking of Passport expiration, US is rejecting passports with 20 years Validity and insists on having a 10 year validity Passport. ( I read this somewhere, but im NOT Sure of the Authenticity of this information. Someone Confirm).

I received 2 emails, both containing Rajnikanth's Introduction in Chandramukhi. Looks like it has been taken on a Cellphone Camera. Very poor clarity. But who needs that all. Seeing your THALAIVAR with one leg on Air, and exhibiting style (and the sounds of fans, and the rain of roses inside the theatre is also seen). WoW ! Wish i'd see the movie soon.

Entering the world of blogs...

I welcome myself to the exotic analysis of the totally unimportant issues around us. For those who dont know me (I guess that would be 99% of the junta), I am Shailendra- keerthi's school buddy. In case you folks didn't know we used to call keethivasan "Keats", after the famous English poet John Keats of the 1800s. He used to write the most insane poems and literary "masterpieces" and we will give our last rites to it. He was right however, in recognizing his own talent. Coz rightfully, he was chosen as the best writer in our batch.

Anyway, here I am. And I will be contributing to this space on a regular basis hopefully. It takes some time to get acquainted with the world of blogging as this is my first blog ever. So errors and shortcomings are expected to be pardoned. But however nonsensical or trivial the blogs might be, it is the truth and that is the whole beauty of creating and viewing blogs. And I will contribute fleeting and ongoing thoughts from my beautiful mind.

As Keerthi would agree, "Beauty is truth, truth beauty- that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know."

I thank Keats for giving me the opportunity to blog in his space, and well, here I am.

Signed, Shailendra Rao

How many people's life have you touched. I have always felt, that if I could give a person a Consoling smile, a warm hug and ease his tension or fear then we have touched his life. We could make a difference in everyone's life. And they could - in ours. I know it sounds really artificial, but then Think about it.

If you can stop a tear,
If you can bring a smile on a face,
If you can soothe one's feelings,
If you can throw a hand for another hand to take grip of
Then you have touched a life.

How many minds have you touched ?

India Lost. Or can I say, One Pakistan Team won Eleven Indian Cricketers.

[ctsy - Hey, This one's my own]

Umpires were waving all the time, Horizontally Indicating Fours all through the Pakistan Innings. And when India came in, they were re-aligned to vertical, Calling OUT Indian batsmen for the next assault.

Mhmm! This doesnt look good. The Indian Team, in India, has not done justice. They had all chances of leveling the series, in the Last and the prior match. I dont have much to say about this.

Good Music !!

I was going through one of those FTP sites, downloading rarest-of-rare musical bits from AR Rahman. From Leo-Coffee to Swades, all BGMs and Theme musics are collected and generously shared (Whoops !). That was when I came across something called Vanessa Mae. With Broadband working, I wanted to try it out. And now im wondering, I would have missed a great music if I had ignored that particular MP3. Amazing Rahman, though it was familiar to most of his own songs, "The Raga's Dance" (One of 10 songs in the Album) is simply amazing.

[Ctsy - Sony Music ]

Vanessa has made quite some albums, and this one "Choreography", features one AR Rahman song composed. If you get a chance, dont try to skip it. It is worth a hear.

By the way I heard Set top Boxes are going to be removed from existance (in chennai). Someone tell me the good news.

Mumbai Xpress - a Big Let Down

Before even attampting to write something in the name of a Review, let me give you a statutory warning. Kamalhaasan made a few promises before the movie got released. What were they ?

  • Mumbai Xpress will be a non-stop Laugh-a-Riot movie.
  • I promise a complete family entertainer, with no Vulgar scenes in it.
Precisely, Kamal has kept up his promise from Title-Start to Title End. Congratulations Kamal. But does that alone make a hit ? Well, many of the Hardcore Kamal fans including me, tasted tea-dust after a cup of great tea. Mumbai Xpress could have been a lot better than is now.

There is a Kidnap plot, and how the plot changes it plan, and what goes wrong after Kamal gets into the plan is the entire movie's story. "When Crime meets confusion" is the caption of Mumbai Xpress, and cant be more approporiate than that. Pasupathy (Kothala Thevar) plays a amazingly comical role of a villain - comedy villain, and to me He is the Hero of the first part. Talking of first part, there can be no other movie so great and fast and so very interesting than Mumbai Xpress.

Obviously there is a mismatch in the kidnap, and a unexpected ransom amount is paid for, and what Kamal does with it, makes you roll on floors. (well, it did me).

Kamal, particularly in this movie, has shown everyone in the movie as corrupted ones. Everyone, including his Sister is on for money and are pretending to be good to Kamal. Kamal, should have underlined about this and said more about this. (i was expecting a message like that). Very cleverly underplayed on songs. You wont see any song on screen, in full, except the Vande Matharam song (even this is changed to some other song. Cautious !!).

I saw the movie on Sathyam - Digital Projection. Well, i cant appreciate it though, but i saw a few long shots very poorly rendered. I dont know why. Kamal's stunts in the movie are quite amazing, and i can understand the pain taken and sincerity in it. But as someone said on their blogs, the movie certainly missed Crazy Mohan.

Laughter is certain for all the time you watch the movie. But you will be shocked when the movie ends. I was expecting an ending that was still to come, but Kamal said "Thats all for Rs. 60 , Thanks for coming !!!". BAD ENDING.

The movie is full, i mean, lots of scenes, and lots of points worth mentioning. But will do it as a discussion. If you are yet to watch the movie, go ahead and place yourself on laughter therapy in some of the theatres, and come back.

I want to talk about Pussan Talk

The trailer of Mumbai Xpress is out on www.MumbaiXpress.com (no E for Xpress). And it looks like a thorough Comedy, one of Crazy Mohan's "AAL Maarattam". Wish Crazy Mohan comes out of that stuff (even though i like each and one of his creations).

Kamalhaasan and Gautham join for a Hunt Game. "Vettaiaadu - Vilayadu" is the name of the next movie, you start expecting (besides Gajini). Kamal, Gautham Menon, Jeeva and Harris Jeyaraj. "Vettayadu Vilayadu is said to be a racy thriller in which Kamal plays his age and the first half is set in New York, second half in Chennai and the climax in a remote village in Tamilnadu. The shooting will start from April 23."

We can always wait. Cant we ?

Disappointment - a part of Daily Routine

These days, somewhere between the day, I consume a certain quantity of Disappointment. I know disappointments come, when you expect more out of things. But, hey. You cant change me. !!

Yesterday's disappointment was BSNL DataOne. Yesterdays answer was polite. So was today's but the answer was shocking. "Sorry Sir, You can browse only Indian domains, and others you will only get on Monday.". Why should i pay for a Monthly service, thats got a 5 day Downtime. I plan to take it higher, and find an answer.

Talking of disappointment, I remember a favourite quote of mine. "Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of man.". That was said by Rabindranath Tagore.

There was an interesting movie I saw, whose name i dont remember. The story goes like, Kids who are going to be born are standing in a queue. One by one, they leave heaven, and they are born in some hospitals. But one kid, doesnt want to be born, (I know im doing a mistake in past tense, cat help!) because he thinks that the world is full of miseries. Because of this non-birth (!!) the whole world has a show-stopper in babies being born. So, now the Gods convince how beautiful the world is, and later he inclines to be born.

Its really difficult being God. Someone want my job ?

BSNL Back in Form

My Broadband connection is Down, for some reason. The Helpline was very polite and gave a Crystalline answer. "Sir, We are down till 10 O Clock. Please try connecting later after that time.". Thats fine. !

Hey, I had a wonderful story to talk about. Read Ahead !!

Two very good friends were walking down a thin path in the middle of the jungle. It was a hot day, and both of them were extremely tired. They were on a wildlife expedition, and they had been walking almost continuously for six hours. They were carrying burdensome back-packs, and were wearing tough and heavy hiking-shoes. Suddenly one of them spotted a bear running towards them. The bear was huge, and looked extremely angry. Terrified, the two men started running, and the bear, no doubt very hungry, gave them chase.

Suddenly, one of the men stopped. He quickly took out a pair of light running-shoes from his back-pack, bent down, and put them on. Then he resumed running.

All this while, the other man was looking at him. Nonplussed, he asked him, "That beast has got a stride double ours, and it's only a matter of time before we end up as his mid-day meal. Do you really expect to outrun him simply by putting on a pair of running-shoes?"

"But my dear friend, don't you see, I don't have to outrun the bear", replied the first man, almost casually. "I just have to outrun you."

Whoops ! Very lateral !

I hear Horns of Mumbai Express

The Distant Sound of the train coming. Though people hear it, and it is subtle truth that a train is coming, Still people look out, for where the train is coming, by leaning outside the platform. Thats because there's a Child in everyone of us. Everyone likes watching a Railway station (empty or full), Elephant, Moving Water, Monkeys or Monkey, Stars, Distant Ship and many more. There is a saying "Within every Old Man, there is a Young man wondering What the hell happened...?".

I heard such a Train sound in the Distance. Mumbai Express music is what i mean. 6 songs in all including Vande Matharam and a Theme song. Why are all movies now having Theme Song ? Both Sachin and Mumbai Express have Theme Songs, both Unimpressive (for now).

Look at the Picture of Mumbai Express (this is My Adobe Photoshop product). Somehow or other, Kamalhaasan impresses with his touch of humour. May be the person on top is an important character in the movie, because there are already 2 songs talking of Monkey Business. Let me hear the songs one more time, may be i will like it this time.

Pope John Paul II is dead

The Pope was very old, even before i was born.

He was appointed in 1978 as Pope, and i was born only 1982. Pope is the most superior position in the Catholics, like what Kanchi Peetam is for Hindus. Vatican as you know is the smallest, and yet powerful country in the world. Well, we cant call it a country though, as its just the size of Teynampet and Alwarpet put together. But Teynampet and Alwarpet are not as powerful as the Vatican, and not just Rich even. Vatican could be richer than India is.

Now, that the Pope is dead. Our Condolenses. He was a good man, in the press. I have seen his interviews or messages. He had a Honest tone, in finding peace in everyday life. Let his Holy Soul rest in Subtle peace.

Next up ! Pope elections. I feel strange here, looks like Angels and Demons is live in action.

Double Jeopardy !

If there's something Amusing and Confusing at the same time, there are only two of them.

Software and Law. Let us try a law point. Take Double Jeopardy.

The rule against double jeopardy states that no one should be tried or punished twice for the same offence. This rule protects citizens from oppression by ensuring that the State cannot keep prosecuting a citizen until they are finally convicted. It is a fundamental and ancient rule of law that extends back to the time of the Ancient Greeks.

If ever punished already for a crime that was never commited, the person is allowed to perform that crime in public, and will not be punished again.

You could have seen a movie of the same name "Double Jeopardy", where my favourite Actress, the very beautiful Ashley Judd plays a wife, who is misunderstood to have killed her Husband, and is punished by the American Federal Court of Law. (This sounds better than Indian Penal Court, doesnt it). The when she comes out of prison, she understands her husband is not killed yet. Now, she can kill her husband in front of the Times Square, and just walk away without an arrest, as she had already been imprisoned for the same crime.

Cool ! This is some kind of Prepaid Crime. Be in Jail now, Kill later.

Ganguly Smacked !!

If you were on a IT company, and checking mails every two minutes, whether or not you have mails, then you are certain to have seen the following mail.

"How to Make Maggi when Ganguly is on field"

Pic on Hello ! Posted by Hello

Here's the procedure, as to how you do it.

Step 1: boil one cup of water.

Step 2: as soon as ganguly goes for batting, put the noodles in the boiled water and put the tastemaker.

Step 3: stir till ganguly is onfield.

Step 4: As soon as ganguly is back in pavilion, your noodles r ready to eat.

Phew ! Life of a celebrity is simply unpredictable. One day, he is portrayed as a Super Hero, and the other day he is the top Jackass. It is quite normal. But Ganguly has gone through this many a too times.

I wonder if Ganguly would survive the next BCCI meet as a caption.

Here's another insult to Ganguly's injury. This was another mail.

What is the next number in the series
21, 12, 12, 1, ...

The answer is 2. Wonder Why ??

These are Ganguly's scores in the recent Test series. :)

Savurav Gone Guly.

Was just checking up about the new movies coming up in Hollywood. Much to our surprise, most of them are Animated movies. With the growing popularity to Animated movies, looks like Hollywood actors are going to loose their jobs.

Ice Age Part II is coming up. Supposed to be a block buster. Steven Speilberg and Tom Cruise come back again with "War of Worlds". I saw the trailer of this movie. Wow! Could be yet another Independance Day kind of movie. But Spielberg and Cruise can give a flavour to it.

Manoj Night Shyamalan, is sharping his nails for another bite. "Lady in the Water" is his next movie for Warner Bros. But we have to wait longer. Its releasing 2006.

Off beat: A political leader wants all Billboards in Tamilnadu, which have their captions in English to be painted with TAR and to be erased. How arrogant and foolish can he go. I mean there has got to be a stop for this. I dont see any kind of affection in him for the language. He is just creating a Whitepaper about nothing and publicising it.

March 30. Your year ends here. From tomorrow you are fresh. A fresh Tax Payer.

Pay Tax and Hold your Head High ! (this message is issued in public interest alone. not mine)

Nature is not done with its speech Yet.

Japanese have issued a Tsunami Warning yesternight. When we were peacefully sleeping, earth was screaming in your ears.

The quake lasted as long as three minutes, Agence France- Presse cited Indonesia's Meteorological and Geophysics Office as saying. The temblor caused power blackouts on Sumatra.

8.2 rictor - a high magnitude earthquake had kissed one island of the Indonesia. Wonder what disaster is waiting for us.

God save us all.

In the Terminal

God has kept me away from very good movies. Dont really know why. I really felt like i was crying, during the ending scene of the movie. Spielberg cant just awe-spire you, or make you scream with Dinosaurs, but he can make you smile and cry, with the power of emotion.

You may not like the movie, if you are an Entertainment seeker. It is slower than those award winning Malayalam movies. But you will Jump for Victor Navorski (played by Tom Hanks).

The film is about a person, from a country travelling to New York. But as soon as the flight takes off, the country from where Victor travels has been abandoned. United States doesnt accept people from that country. And because that country no longer exist, Victor cannot go back to his home. US officials are very rigid, and they do not let Victor touch the soil of America.

Victor is stranded in the Airport for, Ladies and Gentlemen, believe it or not - 8 months.

And finally what happens, is the heart of the story.

You know, sometimes we feel something deserves Credits fully.

This movie deserves all the good it can get.

Dreaming on Monday morning

Had a dream last night. A very nice dream - something that made me happy and sad at the same time. It is always possible in my life, that happy moments are the ones that I regret the most. Yesternights dream was such a happy moment. Quality dream.

In my dream, I was rich. Only in my dream. Im talking about High Magnitude Richness. All my dream Gadgets, without fail, appeared and danced in front of me. A 8 Mega Pixel Camera, a Royal Red Toyota Corolla, a Plasma Sony Projection TV and a Nokia 9500 Communicator. Imagine a multi-millionaire in the Old age Tamil movies. He comes with a colour-colour Gown and a Pipe in his mouth. Something similar to that.

I hold a Sony Vaio in my hand, and keep typing something. Then I go to a Dining table where delicious food, everything colorful. (I have Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner even in my dreams, kindly excuse). I have a belief that people having Swings (Uunjal) in their houses are rich. So, I get back to typing something on Vaio, sitting on the Swing. Iam always busy, and attending Phone calls on my Nokia Communicator.

Then iam sitting and enjoying all possible movies on my projector TV with a Creative 7.1 Surround Sound system. Home Theatre, Hah !

Dreams are so good for one reason. You can do anything. Anything.

Then i woke up, found everything back to normal. I knew what was reality. But the sweet fragrance of dreams, wow. You know, how i like it.

I get on the Auto back to office, on Monday Morning. All the fragrance of the Dream, dies in the smokes of Nelson Manickam Road.

Reality Sucks.

God's Own Friday

Traditionally, Good Friday occurs between March 20 and April 23 on the Friday before Easter, and commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus.

Why "Good Friday"? No one knows for sure. However, church scholars sometimes point to the very same Eastern Orthodox observance known as Great Friday. Others believe that "good" eventually became a corruption of God, or an old English word meaning "holy."

Today, Christian churches traditionally hold services on Good Friday from noon until 3:00 p.m. to symbolize Jesus' last hours on the cross. In Catholic churches especially this includes The Stations of the Cross, a reenactment of the procession to Mount Calvary where Jesus was crucified.

I personally love it for a simple reason. Even after my 2 months of arrogant sick leave, my company has kindly granted me the freedom of availing a floating holiday. So, what am i doing today ??

No Doubt, downloading "The Ray" from Shareaza a P2P software. Im also hunting for the Hanuman Chalisa MP3 sung by MS Subbulakshmi. Someone who knows the whereabout, please Shout !

Have a nice day. For me, its already a weekend :)

Pakistan Day

In 3 Weeks, i saw 7 friends of mine go to Tirupathi. Now, 2 of my close friends. Even my next door kid, Dachhu is going for a Mottai this weekend. Tirupathi season. Im exploring my possibilities of going. God knows when.

Shocked to hear Rajnikanth is a Pshycriatist in Chandramukhi. I was not able to digest the fact, that he is a BE engineer in Padayappa. Everybody like Rajni only as a common Tamil man. I only hope he hypnotizes the audience this time.

Gemini Ganesan Gone. I liked his voice better than anyother attribute of his. He was gracious on screen. Rest in peace, Mr. Ganesan.

Today is Pakistan Republic Day. They call it "Pakistan Day". Hope they dont have the need to tighten securities on republic day, just like we do every year. Ironic.

On your Roof Top

Another Broadband adventure !

I tried Keyhole, a recently acquired company for Google. This software is a Aerial Photography software, that zooms to the roof top of your house from Space. - Can you believe it, FROM SPACE.

Unfortunately, and quite expectadly this only works for the United States zones. I zoomed upto Chennai.
It showed me locations of Avadi, Ambattur and even Pallavaram, but not Villiwakkam. Damn.

You have a decent Hi-Speed Internet Connection, then you may have to try this for sure. Download Keyhole on your computer, and try to reach your friend in the United States.

Microsoft has its own version of Aerial Photography - Terradata.

Trust me, the Land looks more beautiful from the Sky.
But only as long as you are not falling from the Sky !

Seeing thru Colored Glass

Seeing thru Colored Glass

1. There is a Room 20 X 40. In it stand 8 People. They are looking at a snake which has come by chance to the centre of the room.

2. The inverted image of the 12 Feet Raja Naga, is in the retina. -- The brain doesnt understand what it is.

3. Thalamas identified the signal, which belongs to visual cortex, and sent it.

4. Meantime, the message has been passed on to Amgdala. What to react, Fight of Flight. Which response to take.

5. There was a color glass, called the combination of Value and Belief, and they reacted differently to the same visual signal from the external territory.

The Persons and the Belief.

Ramanna - Hails from Karnataka.
His Belief - Snake is God.
Value - God should be worshiped
Response - He requires flowers to be offered.

Varadhan - Lost his friend by Snake Bite.
His Belief - Snake is dangerous.
Value - Runaway from fearful stimulus.
Response - He demands an exit request for himself

Kannan Nair -
Belief - Snake is a poisonous beast
Value - To be killed.
Response - requires equipment to kill the snake.

Child -
Belief - any sensation is to be appreciated
Value - play toy
Response - need to play with the snake

Kim Lee - a Korean girl
Belief - Snake is a medical content,
Value - enhances health value
Response - to be caught and made as a soup

Menaka - Blue Cross member
Belief - Animals are no different from Human beings
Value - To be treated with love and compassion
Response - To safeguard snake from any torture

Muniyandi - Snake Charmer
Belief - God which provides food for the family
Value - Bread Winner
Response - To take possession of the snake, to make his earnings

Ibrahim - Leather Merchant
Belief - a fashion statement
Value - expensive commodity
Response - to be skinned alive.

One Snake and Eight Perspectives

Ramanna has married Kim Lee when he was in Korea, on his Onsite venture. After two years of married life, they attended a function, at Chickmangaloor on a Nagapanchami Day (a day auspicious for snakes)
That was a starting point of the mismatch of their Value and Belief

There are only two options.
Divorce or Live with.

What is the third alternative.

Madhav Dasika - Guest Blog

I would have touched many areas in my 4 months of blogging. But not sports. You would know the reason if you have seen me already. Sports and ME would sound more like an Oxymoron. So, here's outsourcing.

Madhav Dasika, is a Team Leader in my office, and a very good friend of mine. He had this different perspective about Idol Worship. The religion, where he thinks this superstition is followed, is called Cricket. Wow, i smell controversial opinions already.

Here's Madhav and his log.

"The Profile of the most admired batsman!!

This is a person who has got maximum number of centuries and still consumes more than 6 overs to reach from 90 to 100. No gifts for guessing.
The most proclaimed and world renowned Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Very often the saying goes says that we are loosing the matches because we dont have Tendulkar in the side. He is in the news almost all the papers from the day he has an elbow injury till the day he palyed a trophy in Hyderabad.
I saw a program on one of the channels in where the spectators were yelling 'Tendulkar has disappointed us today'. That was the day on which I started wondering when did Tendulkar not disappoint us (if not a surprise atleast). Any big league, it will be potrayed as the star bowler of the opponent team vs Tendulakar. So far I have never seen Tendulkar going against the odds and trying to overcome the *star bowler* of the opposite team except for Henry Olongo of Zimbabwe (and Shoab Akthar of Pakistan in the World Cup)

He is compared to Sir Don Bradman and he is compared to Sunil Gavaskar. I somehow do not understand whether these people also stood more for individual records than a match winning performance. We have seen Dravid playing the wall role, Kaif/Yuvraj/Ganguly and sometimes Agarkar winning the matches for us. But so far I have not seen Tendulkar contributing more than 30-40 runs in any crucial innings (be it be one day or a test match) except for two matches against Australia in which he was a Captain."

Adobe Photoshop CS !

Massive downloads. With a very silly feeling of testing the limits of BSNL Dataone, I downloaded Adobe Photoshop Cs. 150 MB.

150 MB is something that never was even in my dream. And now, its more than reality.

150 MB took 1 hour and 20 minutes. But i used to download 15 MB in on hour and some minutes. So, literally 10 times faster.

Enough for me !!

100 MBps Speed - 40 Kbps Download

Blaster at Home ! BSNL Dataone On Avyukta !

Iam experiencing terrific speed and realize the real power of Broadband. Im right now trying to figure out, what are the possible downloads i can load/overload.

Someone Suggest !

Open Source Google

This is a hit news !

Google starts a new Service / Ploy / Strategy / Whole new way of Google. Whatever way you take it. You can now participate in shaping Google, and its technology.

You can download the Open Source , work on it yourself and watch your product, and Gratify your Techno Savvy. I would like to do it, but many of the terms seem confusing. Looks like i will have to be a even matured programmerto even understand terms.

But then, there are Forums for this Open Source you can speak to, and atleast tell your requirements and ideas.

Check code.google.com for more informations

Madhav Does a Guestblog on Monday !!! Someone Wanna fight ?

Want a blog ?

Do you intend to start your blog of your own ? Well, Yahoo has intented to serve for you. Click here to Yahoo 360

But this service, however is not available right now, as it is yet to be in Beta Stage. But Yahoo, I imagine can give you lots of customizations and facilities. Hopefully. Take 3. Action !

My friend gave me a library book - "Thiraikkadhai Ezhuthuvathu Eppadi". How to Write Screenplays, written by Sujatha. Completed half of the book yester-night. Im not going to make movies, no!. But it is worth a read, if you want to make your tastes for cinema better. You can learn how to appreciate good cinema. May be thats not the intention of the book, but thats what i inferred.

A normal person, going to cinema, used to say "Great Movie !!My hero has did it again". But the same person is now matured, and he says,"The movie would have been better, if the editing was done properly". "Cinematography was excellent in Kannathil Muththamittal". "Baba had a useless screenplay".

I cant dare say this is maturity in viewers minds. Most of the people (including me) talk because, they know that terminology. "Sreegar Prasad's editing was great in Dil Chahta Hain", i used to say. But i still dont know whats editing. But then, i can clearly say that a movie was properly edited or not.

All things apart, forget everythig. Just listen to what Rajnikanth says. Whistle and Clap. Get out !!

Broadband - really slow !!

My dataone service is yet to come, even after two months of repeated complaints. But i was shocked when my friends friend applied two days before, and he got the connection today. Talk of envy and agony at the same time.

Envy - I heard this word first time in Onida advertisement. Neighbor's Envy. Owner's Pride.

Many other Brands have this amusing type of Captions to their companies.

HBO - Simply the Best
BBC - Knowing is Everything
CNN - Be the first to know
IBM - Solutions for a small planet
MTV - Enjoy
Honda - The Power of Dreams
Nokia - Connecting people
Pirelli - Power is nothing without control
Emirates - When was the last time you did something for the first time.

You know what's the best caption in this world ??

Avyukta - Welcome to your Senses. !!!!
Gotcha !

Kokku Para Para

Chandramukhi has done pretty decent in terms of songs. Though i like only two of them. I like "Kokku Para Para". My next door kid, Darshan dances for "Devuda Devuda" shaking his hands and legs. God has taught him to dance like that. Wonder how kids learn, and more to amazement, Rajnikanth's songs have a greater impact on kids. Almost all the kids i have seen a little earlier were singing "En Peru Padayappa !!!". Strange.

More Movie Digest : All movies back off their release dates, in co-ordination with Chandramukhi, leaving Chandramukhi the lone runner. Mumbai Express and Anniyan, set to go 10 days later.

Road block in road opposite to Valluvar Kottam. Man, these guys drive us Crazy, literally.

Hey, I've completed Deception Point. Only Digital Fortress is pending for completing all the Dan Brown Stuffs. Deception Point, i personally felt would make a good movie, but because I read Deception point after DaVinci and Angels and Demons, it did not have a good appeal over.

I Strongly recommend you all to read this book - Angels and Demons, after you read DaVinci Code.
Mail me for eBooks. :)

Avyukta has Hit 2000

2000 - Again the number game. I didnt think i will make it to this.

Curiosity Kills the Cat

I dont know why, but i like this Phrase a lot - "Curiosity kills the cat".

I really do not understand why this Phrase got its existance. But i like it. Probably the Cat is too very much curious, just like me. And gets killed everytime it expects something to happen, just like me. During my NIIT days, i was the only guy who completed the SQL Server 7.0 Online test in 20 minutes. The exam was supposed to be going for 1.5 hours. Most of the other guys were not ready to submit, even though they completed in 30 minutes. They were doing something called "Review of answeres", which i completely didnt like. I clicked on submit, and i was the Topper there.

I followed the same process/technique/superstition and clicked Submit in my next Java exam. And nobody got worse than me. I was lowest. I didnt know how to react. Usually this realization comes to most of us, when we get low marks. "Marks and test dont evaluate the knowledge of the person".

My MSc results are about to come, and i already told the above philosophy to my mom twice. Thats called preparing minds to accept the worst, and getting curious at the same time.

God Bless me and my Evaluator.

Whats Mind - Its no matter. Whats Matter - Never Mind !

If you'd been reading "Angels & Demons" you should have come across the term - Anti-Matter. I must be a confused guy, to understand Anti-Matter, without underanding what a matter is. Physicists define matter as something that has mass and comes in different forms: solid, liquid, gaseous. So, anti-matter is supposed to be the opposite of that. What could that be then !!!!

To define Antimatter, you'll have to deal with Paticle Physics. It says, everything in the Universe, has opposites just like Protons and Electrons. For every particle in nature, there is an anti particle - made of antimatter, with identical mass and spin, but with opposite electric charge, baryon number, strangeness, lepton number etc.

Antimatter was predicted by Dirac, based on strange "negative energy" solutions to his equation for an electron.

As per CERN - an European Scientific Research Lab, and as per my reading of Angels and Demons, When Matter and Anti-matter collides, there is a big-bang.

In scientific terms they call it Anhiliation - Matter and Antimatter Anhiliation.

So, the universe should have resulted in such a powerful collision of Matter and Antimatter. This supports our Big-Bang theory.

Phew ! So, many things are yet to be discovered. Still we worry about naming Tamil movies in English !! Damn !

Big Boss on the Charge

Believe it or not. No hypes, no cheap stunts, no big controversies. Chandramukhi, is smoothing its way, out to the world of fans. The simple banners and hoardings, and even simpler outlooks. Simplicity is the Grandest thing, i believe.

take a look at Thalaivar at cruises of action.

Wish this movie, brings back the lost smile on Rajni's face.

Whats your flavour ?

Considering many things in life, lets say we priorotise things. In my life i have priorities set, based on the daily life. I dont want to have foresight and then set priorities. Its just priority for my everyday, just like today. What are they.

1. Good food
2. Good food
3. Quality Work (!!!!)
4. Intellectual Informations
5. Good food
6. Sound Sleep

As far as sleep is concerned, quite recently, or exactly after my BONGO accident, i lost it completely.I dont know why, im not getting my normal sleep at all. So, Sleep is quite a big wish in my priority list.

But food, has always dominated in my priorities. I eat anything (vegetarian) good. Hygeine, is one word, i never learnt in school. So, food anywhere, any form and good.

Informations and intellectual informations. Particularly the perspective views. It would interest you even, to think about a normal thing in a different view/ perspective. Its like being someone else's mind. Take this. Sonia Gandhi wanted to forgive all the people who killed her Husband - Rajiv Gandhi. When i read this information, i thought "How greatful of her..". But then, there was another article by Cho. Ramaswamy. "Who is Sonia Gandhi to forgive terrorists. Further, there were many other people killed, Are everyone ready to fogive the brutal act. Why should everyone comply with her...". Different, isnt it.

Start looking at things on a wider angle. You get more clarity on an object, only when it is 360 degrees viewable.

Murphy's laws says "Everyone is Someone's fool". Remember you are a fool in some persons eyes. Same way You are a GURU in someone's thoughts. You are worshipped by someone, and at the sametime someone hates you to the core.

Thats because, we are not the same person to everyone. We exhibit different attitudes to different people.

We are not who we think we are. We are what others think we are.

Confused ?? keerthivasan@gmail.com

How many lakhs do you want ??

Successful weekend. Got the long time waited mobile (no ! not 9500. no gifts yet). Completed the Angels and Demons. Just as i guessed, the villain was exactly the person, nobody would have guessed. Next up - Digital Fortress. Getting to like this. May be Digital Fortress and Deception point, i will read parellely.

And, if you were tempted by the Topic, here goes.

I was giving a read throught Anandha Vikatan (www.Vikatan.com). And this info gave me exactly 500 Tons of temptation, and a long breath. It was about how companies hired the Top level Employees, like M.D.

The companies assign the task to HRD Consultancies, which recruit MDs. These consultants fix their target, and find a person suitable for the job. He is spied upon, and his weakness is found out. Or his necessities are observed. Then they slowly, open up the offer to the MD, to quit the current company and join theirs.

Three levels of temptations. "If you join this company, leaving you current job, i shall pay you 10, Lakhs" - This is called the Golden Hello

"If you join the company, and stay for oe complete year, i shall give you 5 lakhs more" - Golden Handcuffs

"And if you have to quit the company, ,or the company wants to terminate you , on unfortunate reason, i shall give you 15 lakhs" -
Golden Parachute.

This is the way MDs are hired.

My dream - This is the way Software Engineers should be hired.
Anybody ?

Bud Jet !

The Budget is out in the air. And everyone's happy about the slabs going wider, and making the tax burden lesser. But a sudden DAMAAL (no thats not a technical word, just a reaction) on Standard Deduction will compensate the Revenue from tax. All the same. They just balance the equation on both sides. They make sure our benefit is Zero. Thank god, it did not go Negative.

And this new 0.1 % transaction fee, for every Withdrawal of Rs. 10,000 and above is Outrageous. Looks like lots of sectors are opposing this, what is called a Black Money finder scheme. Mr. P. Chidambaram, has formulated this new scheme to bring out the Black money (remember his earlier VDIS). But this is emotionally making the normal people worry.

I have no tax, notsoever. So, no problems. (Should have income to have tax, right !!)

Now Reading

I never had the quality of "Reading" in my blood. But during my Fracture holidays, i had to be doing a lot of reading. From Ponniyin Selvan to DaVinci Code, everything was consumed. After this, a lots of eBooks started filling my Hard Disk. And this is the latest.

The above logo is the name of the book "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown. Very similar to DaVinci Code, so far.

Did you carefully observe the logo. It is an Ambigram. It means, the picture reads the same, even if it is read upside down. Tilt your head slightly and try to read it upside down. And what do you see ??

Quite nice, isnt it ? Find more at JohnLangdon.net

Today is Budget day, and P.Chidambaram can rock my purse and bank accounts today. God let taxes die !

Change This

Have you imagined the world around you, as of now. With all technical advances, the news and media rules the world in Eastman Color. It is only what the people involved in the news has to say. What happens to views. We have a very little critics, and thats not the way it is supposed to work. The media is not just supposed to Pen the news. But it should also send Views and Foresights and Personal opinions of people.

ChangeThis is one group that wishes to change the way, the Media works. It is a open Media, where anyone is free to express thoughts. They have Manifestos by people around the world. It allies with Bloggers (like me !) and try to post their news world-wide. This is what they say "If you like the manifesto, Publish it. If you dont, Publish it, and Give your Opposing comments along". This is one way how the media has to grow. News and views.

Try going to www.ChangeThis.com and read various manifestos. Avyukta will be featuring more of these manifestos and views about it every Sunday.

Good read !!

Browser Wars - Doesnt seem to End

There was a time when I never knew there could be an alternative to Internet Explorer. Then for a long long time, Netscape Navigator was the only known Browser competing with IE.

Then came the storm called Opera. The so called Fastest Browser on Earth. There was a reason most of them liked it. The Tabbed Browsing with lots of Colors and Themes, and also easy Pop-up blocking. Image Zoom is one feature ay browser will Lack, and thats the Beauty of Opera. That is, we can Zoom the web page that was loaded, and even the images on the page is Proportionately zoomed. But then, people did not like Opera for one good reason. Javascript was not supported in Opera. With more and more web pages with lots of Javascript developing, The Heaven of Javascript - GMAIL did not work on Opera until its 7.54 version. Opera had to rework its browser to stand the competition.

Netscape, however, could not stand the popularity of IE and could not directly compete with Microsoft. So, it started supporting a fast growing browser company called Mozilla. Mozilla had a browser, a eMail application and a Chat [IRC] application. Mozilla had a great luck, when Google also started supporting Mozilla for the production of the Latest, and my favourite browser - Mozilla Firefox.

Firefox
is a classic straight forward browser, and Open-source. Firefox is not fast, not user-friendly as Opera is. But it is primitive and a long time use with it will make you love Firefox.

Opera has now released Opera 8.0 Beta. This one supports GMail and many other Javascripted web pages. [GMail started working from Opera 7.6 Beta, itself].

With Firefox (25 million downloads, so far) and Opera alone in the competition, IE is no where in the picture. Eventhough 70 % of web-users use Internet Explorer browser, this picture is likely to change.

So, what browser are you using, I would reccomend Firefox.

The Day after Tomorrow

Have you seen a movie named "Day After Tomorrow". The Super Special Effects movie is all about the Global Warming. There is an ultimate change in the Weather, and ruins the world in Full.

Are we not seeing something similar. Earthquakes in Indonesia River Beds, and Tsunami in Srilanka India and Indonesia. Freezing killer climate in Jammu and Kashmir - India right now. And the Iran Earthquake yesterday.

[Jammu Snow - Ctsy- Sify.com]

Of course Calamities were happening even earler, but the Frequency of repeat incidents, in a matter of two months have raised questions.

Earth is not a safe place to be [What a Dialogue]. We better go to Mars. I can hear you telling, there is no Oxygen and Water in Mars. If you are in Chennai, you are pretty much in the Martian Environment. No Oxygen , and No Water.

Im going to Mars. Somebody want to Come ?

Of Responsibilities

I was on the Auto to my office, when i saw three kids, peeping out of the gate. They did not have a happy face. They were dressed in uniform, and hopefully waiting for their school van to pick them up to the place called school, which they did not seem to like. Can you imagine the picture ??

I was also not that happy to go to school, except those days, when i was perfectly done with homeworks, and prepared for Tests. As a kid, i thought i had too much responsibilities. How can you do, Physics assignment and Mathematics on the same night, with Metro time, and Metro Priya on the TV (remember those saviour shows ??). But it is only the starting trouble. As soon as I was inside the class-room, with all my soul-mates around me, I would not feel worried anymore.

Primarily because, I would have company. There is always someone who hasnt completed trigonometry.

United We Stand [Outside the class].

All i would be expecting everyday of my school is, "God ! Let today be a holiday ! Somehow...".

It is amusing to think about the past days. The ages of transformation. We learn more out of the school, and a very little inside (Thats just my opinion). Wow, there's much too much to write about schools. Ill save it for future blogs.

Too Late is good for a Cell

After the accident, ive been going to home, as early as 7.00 PM. Yesterday was a bit late, and know what ? My dad and mom furious about being late, and not having made a call. They insist that i have a cell-phone.

I've had mixed feelings about owning a Cellular-Phone. I know it is a useful technology, but i was not deserving to be so busy with it. Besides, no one's going to call me. But then, i told my Dad, "OK dad ! I'll buy one. This is my dream model Nokia - 9500 Communicator !!". "How much does it cost ..." " Rs. 35,000 !" "Good ! Go to hell !"

Next 5 mins we had a nice conversation. Nice it was. Dad said, buy your communicator next year. This year buy a mobile and then give it to me, when you buy the communicator.

So, Im buying my dad's favourite model - Samsung C110 (likely !).

Here's my dream phone

and still dreaming of my Communicator. Somebody willing to gift me :) I will give you my Autograph (WOW)

Tamil Channels on Hollywood

Hope you saw the Terror Peak and Broken Arrow (Buroken Ero in Tamil - so nice, isnt it) on Vijay and Sun TV. Next week is even better. True Lies, in Tamil on Vijay TV. And much much more to come.

This was once my dream, when CAS came to Chennai. Why dont Tamil channels give atleast 2 English movies in a week. And now its a reality. But the fantasy broken at edges. Because, the Channels think they should be screening only Action movies. (Of course, Crimson Tide was no Action Movie). Nyways, something is better than nothing.

Monday morning is nice, after a long time. During my long vacation, little did i care about what day it was. And now, there is a responsibility (how nice to bluff) to wake up early and brush up !

Yesterdays Marathon was a big hit ! Thousands ran the marathon. Hope the culture prolongs.

Longhorn Hits You Soon

Most of us were thinking of Microsoft Windows 2000, That came after Windows 98. What happened to Windows 97 and Windows 99. After 2000, Microsft started naming its Software in a different way. As you know, the peaceful and more Buggy Windows ME, and the King O/S called the Microsft Windows XP - Professional and Home editions. XP has rocked the world, as much as 98 did. Most of us do not know there was Windows Server 2003. It was a silent news.

By and By, now, Microsoft is up for its next release. Microsoft Longhorn. Longhorn will rename most of the Windows components you use, and have more colour, performance and security. Thats a Microsoft Promise. Longhorn also comes with a 64-Bit edition, to allow the new AMD 64+ users to operare on a 64 Bit Processor environment.

Post Valentine's Day

In the coming few years, the Companies will have one week Holiday, Commencing from two days prior to Valentine's day and two days after. You should see the rush in Anna nagar shops, celebrating (but why?) Valentines day. Get 50 % off on your partner's clothings. But you are not just allowed to get only your partner's clothings. Traps are everywhere, and business is always business.

Lots of activities going around Chennai, and most of the metro-politans. Red roses on demand, and SMS messages had a Surge. Bikes flying on roads with partners, who believe they should give cards and realize their love only on the So called auspicious day.

Soon, we have Mother's day and Father's day and Friendship Day, and Thanksgiving Day.
We are almost gone International in celebrating. Gone Really Long !

Sometimes, Shiv Sena is right. (Duh !)

Whats so good about the year

Come on guys, its the last few days of 2004. We should be talking about how good the year was... talking like this is a tradition we have been following every year ends..

For me.. this year is unforgettable, in a lot of senses....
2004, is a major Next level Gear in my life...

My accomplishments for the year..(in the Descending order..)

Moved to a 5 Digit Salary, a very nice Job.
Got a High End PC - Avyukta
Bought a Beautiful, peaceful Home - Mahalakshmi
Inserted a 35 cm Iron Rod, and 4 two Inch Screws, in my left leg.

All the 4, i will never forget for a lifetime. (This blog is also a good start in the year..)

Whats yours.. mail me Keerthivasan@gmail.com (yes.. its boring at home..)

India Today year end edition is really a Good Buy. A photo feature brings in front of our eyes the happenings of 2004, very precisely. Try and buy it.(Its for me kind of guys, who buy books for just "seeing padam"..;)

Tsunami O Tsunami

i heard this word Tsunami first in the movie, Anbe Sivam where Kamal says Madhavan how his dad died in a Tsunami. Nobody would have ever thought Tamil Nature will show this kind of a face to the people walking on the Marina Beach, early morning.. i dont have scientific explanations for this.. but it is pathotic to have thousands of people dead, for no mistakes.. hundreds of children, innocent, poor and the old aged, unable to tolerate the powers of violent nature.

[ctsy:Xinhuanet.com]

im here sitting in the first floor.. and currently immobile after the fracture i had.. im wondering what i will do, if the whole city starts evacuating (like in most English movies...).. my Inability is i cant even walk, climb down stairs... i just have to sit and watch things happening to me holding tight in my hands my mom and Avyukta.

I felt the News Media, is underplaying things in this regard. I find poor quality in news coverage about the recent earthquakes and ocean scoldings. News channels can only talk more about rxpected earthquakes, and not the ones that really happened... there is no juice there.

Anyway, people thought 2004 will end smoothly, and even i though i can write a smooth review about 2004... but it had shown an entirely different face that it has not so far..

God save us all (and me in particular... )

I never thought my life would be so eventful, this early. Im now equipped with one Iron Rod in my left thigh, with a lot of screws. Getting better now..

This is more time for me for a learning.. a new Tom Cat Server on my computer, and a new Domain name created.. please check www.keerthivasan.com regularly for new updates.. my fracture helps me learn JSP.

I will be walking like Jonnie Walker on 10th January 2005. Lets see

Ganapathy Blogs !

This is supposed to be a Guest blog, and the Guest is Mr. Ganapathy, my peer in my office. He wanted to share a few information he observed in Rediff

Here goes...

The number of engineering graduates in India annually: 350,000.

The quality of engineers being produced in the country? Questionable.

This lacuna, in fact, stems not only from the lack of trained faculty, but also the dismal spending on research and development in higher education in India.

Engineering colleges in the country have been growing at 20 percent a year, while business schools have grown at 60 per cent annually.

Compared to India, the United States produces 70,000 engineering graduates. Europe produces 100,000 engineering graduates.

India also produces 60,000 MBAs every year.

Though the growth of graduate technical education has been stagnant since 1990 -- 5,300 in 2000 against 5,000 in 1990 -- undergraduate engineering and MBAs have each grown more than tenfold, according to a study conducted by
Naushad Forbes, director, Forbes Marshall.

Here is more data:

1. Five states -- Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Kerala -- account for 31 percent of India's population, but 69 percent of India's engineers.

2. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Orissa account for 43 percent of India's population, but 14 percent of its engineers.

Yes, the Indian government has been responsive to quality concerns and has established various bodies like the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, All India Council for Technical Education, Distance Education Council and the National Council of Teacher Education. But the controls apply primarily to government institutions, with private institutions on the periphery of their purview.

For instance, NAAC has accredited 2,088 colleges and 113 universities in the 10 years since it was established.

But a study by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry points out that this does not really ensure quality in a dynamic and comprehensive manner, what with 306 universities and over 15,000 colleges spread across India.

Despite the huge numbers, higher education accounts for under three percent of the national research and development spend, compared to 15 to 30 percent in every other major economy, including Taiwan and Brazil.

China's R&D spend, for example, is a good 10 percent, says the Forbes study.

Now, you understand why i hate Education. (Huh !)

Mixed Bag - II

“Mr. Watson, come here, I want you.” With these words, spoken by inventor Alexander Graham Bell into his experimental telephone on March 10, 1876, an industry was born. For down the hall, Bell’s assistant, Thomas Watson, distinctly heard Bell utter the first spoken sentence ever transmitted via electricity. That achievement was the culmination of an invention process Bell had begun at least four years earlier."

Follwoing is a News from Lazygeek.net

This note on moneycontrol.com says that Life Insurance Corporation of India is planning to implement the largest insurance datawarehouse in the world by 2007. LIC is looking at a 60 terabyte Data Ware House size in the first phase. The application provided by Teradata – a division of NCR, will enable LIC to study trends not only among customers but also its 1 million strong agency force. The project will be implemented by Wipro and is estimated around Rs 40 crore (Rs 400 million), to Rs 50 crore (Rs 500 million).

Hey, i heard only 10% of the Indian Population is Insured under Life Insurance Corporation.. That means out of 100 Crore, only 10 Crore people are insured.. So, Life Insurance is spending 50 Crores for 10 Crore people.. that Rs. 5 Per Head.. (See im becoming a Statistical Genius..)

Max Downloads !

Yesterday, My uncle got a new PC (it is named Abirami). Abirami is a Intel Pentium 4 3.4 GHz processot, 1GB RAM, 19" LCD Monitor (Wow ! ), DVD Writer (Oh My !) and 250 GB Hard Disk (Whoops !). And the Good news is, my uncle helped me in hosting my photos, and my mayavaram uncle's photos on his Abirami. Abirami is awake all the time to help my File transfer.

To upload the photos, i downloaded Filezilla, To Make the photos into a thumbnail featuring Web Page i downloaded JAlbum.. But JAlbum doesnt work without a JVM. My new Avyukta doesnt have JVM .. so Downloaded the entire JRE of the J2SE from Sun- Java. Thats altogether a download of 25 MB.. 25MB on my dial up is like "me pulling a train using my hair".... fortunately everything was downloaded properly (not very fast...). People who would like to Organize and Publish their photos on a web page (if you have a File Host) you can download JAlbum from Snapfiles.com [Click here to go to Snapfiles]

Mumbai express Updates : Kamal is in a plan to hire a train from the Railway Ministry, to shoot a quite a lot of sequences in the movie. Hope, there is no chasing sequences, like the most movies.

Im planning to buy a nice Digi Cam, to capture the pleasurable moments of my life.(Duh !) After all i hardly find them. Actually, Camera is one invention of man, i hold a high respect for. It is a nice technology to capture your moments, and the time that made you happy. Freezing Time, and showing a proof of time. I'm flattered in the old monochrome Rich prints, that are still there in my albums. Photos of the life of my grandfather and his family. It is awesome, to see your face in Black and white.

By the way, why do we say Black and White TV and Colour TV, as if Black and White are not colours.... ??

Have you Upgraded yourself

With Technology growing everyday, our affordability also has increased. Chennai people never thought someone will buy Set Top boxes, and now, Set Top Box has a decent strength in Chennai. If a school kid is studying, he has a PC at home. All most all the homes have Telephones. Every single house has Television sets. 3 Out of 4 people would certainly have a MP3 player, and 2 out of the 3 will have DVD player too. This was not the case earlier.

Im not talking about today in comparison with 1960s. This was not the society even in 1995. I would say, the last 8 years have certainly created a stir, a storm or a revolution (take the word that you like the best !) in terms of Technology Reach. We have been silent observers of technology, and only a creamy layer used to buy Technology, and were capable of buying. But now, prices have come down, or is it, the affordability is increased... im not sure.. but now every one has access to current technology.

Im amazed, at the cell phones in particular. The exponential growth, the Mobile industry is facing is any organaizations dream. If a new model Nokia is introduced, i see it very quickly in some hands. Now, how is that possible ? I've seen People with a brand new 6610 worry about the new 6610i thats of the same rate they bought, but with additional features.. that just a difference of 2 months.

Even my case, Avyukta costed 40 thousand, and for the same rate.. we could buy a 64 bit computer. The cost thing is understandable.. because as more customers start buying.. prices tend to come down.. but how are more customers starting to buy.. How come more Honda Accords are sold.. How did Sony Wega come down to 11990.. and how did this all happen in 8 years..

Can Windows 95 be a simple answer to all these questions. ?

My Weekend - Lost in Underground

As Usual, installed a new game on a fresh weekend, that promised to be more entertaining than the exam weekends. This time it was a Need for Speed Version 7 - Underground. Even though mine is a High End PC, my Avyukta is not equipped with a Graphics Card, So.. the Quality was not felt in full.. But still.. The game rocked me.

This is my favourite car in the game (A Nissan Car). And in real life.. i dont even know to ride a Car.. (But who cares..)

Today is December 6th. Every year Sun News will say "Tons of Police are Surveiling the entire country, for sucpicious moves of terrorists". On my way to my office, i saw 3 police men close to virtually every 1/2 KM. No wonder, one day we will have December 6th as a Govt Holiday.

To all people who want to start a Blog, MSN has launched a new service. Click here to find out more.

Hope you heard about eBay, a world famous Aution site. You can get just about everything here. But recently a British enthusiasist has put for aution, Ladies and Gentlemen, a Nuclear Bomber Aircraft ??. Click here for more news on that.
My grandmother used to say, "This world is going somewhere in a reckless speed, and i can guess where it is upto !!", and then she would give a smile. Its all beginning to make some sense.

Irresponsibilities - Burning Ego !

It is as predicted, a Numerous number of cases start Swarming up towards Mr. Jayendra Saraswathi. Media is tearing him apart, and a few communal Magazines are giving Pungent Headings to the cases that are new born just every 12 Hours. This is wrong. Iam not for the support of Mr. Jayendra Saraswathi, but it is unnecessary to torture his name like this. I can only turn back to Mr. Jayendra Saraswathi with a wild face.

It should have been the Prime responsibility of Mr. Jayendra Saraswathi, to have renounced the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetathipathi position, right on the next day he was arrested. Let me be frank, it Hurts me everytime i see a marriage invitation, that says "with Anugrahams of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetathipathi". And it also hurts when papers and news media say "Sankrachariyaar and Srirangam Usha !". This is utter Irresponsibility. Who is right now the Authority of Kanchi peetam, He should either Command Mr. Jayendra Saraswathi, out of his position., or Bring up someone else..

If Mr. Jayendra Saraswathi's activities are so cheap, The media's depiction is cheaper.

Breaking News

Key accused Appu arrested in Acharya case !! Well, well well.. just as i said, there has been so many improvements for every 12 hours of the day in this case.. Now for the next 2 days you will read Books about Appu's school, his mom his dad.. his family. (look at me .. i have drawn an aversion toward the Tamil News Agencies)

Effects and After !

What you to someone today, is exactly what you will be done tomorrow. If you agree with this, read on.

Take a look at the picture below..

The first is an image, where you see Saddam Hussein's statue being pulled down, ,to mark the end of his Regime. And the other picture (taken yesterday) is Bush's statue (mock statue) being pulled by people of London. They did this to protest Bush's action regarding his Policies over Iraq.

By the way, are you able to appreciate that iam Updating this blog even between my Exams, or am i exposed that im very weak on my subjects, that im not ready to prepare for them.. either ways. Heh !

Yesterday, i had Distributed Operating System as my exam paper.. and i shed 32 quality papers.. each one could be an Academy award winning Screenplays.. You know, it is a difficult task to answer to a question you dont know (or not even heard about). Particularly in my Hall, almost all of us, wrote admiring stories about the Master-Slave processors..a 10 mark question. After the exam was over, we had Technical reviews (Duh !..) on every answer we wrote.. and not even a single one was close to the actual concept (whic i still dont know.. but Hey ! im a software guy.. i have excuses ;).
